Access Information

There are 4 extra wide parking spaces at the rear of the Museum for blue badge holders, accessed via the St Hilda’s Terrace entrance to Pannett Park. If you are using sat nav please enter the postcode YO21 3AG. We do not have other public parking facilities at the Museum, additional parking can be found at Whitby Leisure Centre (charges apply) which is 0.2 miles away, a 5 minute walk. On street parking is available in neighbouring streets (disc required).

Access at the rear of the Museum is level and suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs. Please use the entryphone at the rear door to alert the museum assistant to your presence and allow him/her to automatically release the rear door.

There are 3 accessible toilets; (1 on lower ground floor in the new wing, 1 on the ground floor by the rear entrance and 1 on the upper floor in the new wing).

A manual wheelchair is available to hire free of charge. Booking is not essential but may be advisable to ensure availability.

The main Museum hall and the Pannett Art Gallery are all on one level. The new extension is on 3 levels and is served both by stairs and a lift.

Support dogs are very welcome.

If a visitor requires a registered carer to enable them to visit the Museum, the registered carer is admitted free of charge.

There is an on-site tea room (click here for current opening times). The tea room is situated on the lower floor of the new wing and can be accessed by stairs or lift.
